The Staff of the Civil Hospital consists of
1. The Colonial Surgeon, who is in private practice, and who visits the Hospital every day, or more frequently when required.
2. The Resident Superintendent or House Surgeon, who is not allowed to engage in private practice and resides on the premises.
3. A European Apothecary
The number of patients in 1862 was 850, giving an average of about 50, which were under the joint care of the above-named Officers.

2. A Portuguese resident Apothecary. The number of patients in 1862 amounted to 485, giving an average of 33.
